Mummy & Me Photo Session
Are you a mum who is always taking photos of your children … with everyone else but you?
Do you take selfies with your children … but struggle to get the best angle and get you both in the frame looking happy?
Have you thought about having a photo session, just for you and your child or, indeed, you with your own mum? I recently did a photo session with this beautiful mum and daughter and I hope when her little girl grows, these will be photos they will both treasure.
Why it’s important for mums to be in photos too
Looking through my son’s first year of photos, I feel quite absent from the hundreds of photos I took because I was always the one taking the photo. Even now, that makes me a little sad so I make a conscious effort to get photos of us together whenever I can.
Being a mum, and being a mum photographer, I’m always the one behind the camera. However, I think this is the case for a lot of mums out there. We’re always trying to capture every memory of our children so we can share the photos with our families even if it means missing out ourselves.
When is the best time for photos with your mum?
There’s never a better time than the present time. It’s fair to say, mums are far more critical of themselves than anyone and you can guarantee that the one time sometimes says, “let me take a photo of you & your little one'” you’ve had no sleep, you have no make-up on and you generally don’t feel your best. I’m not saying you should have photos taken when you don’t feel good about yourself but don’t wait for perfection as you’ll always find an excuse.
Below are a few more from photos from this lovely mummy and me photo session.
Remember that the photos you take today are the ones that will be treasured in 10-20 years time.
We had a bit of time spare at the end of the session, so I couldn’t resist taking a few photos of the little girl on her own!
