Recommended Baby Photographer Nottingham

“I can’t recommend Alison more highly.  From the initial enquiry to delivering our photographs she has offered a professional yet personal service. We are thrilled with the photos of our daughter and Alison really went beyond our expectations to capture them. She was wonderfully calm and is clearly very gifted around newborns, working quickly and with care throughout. We will definitely be asking Alison to return in the future.”

Baby Photographer Nottingham – A brief introduction to my style of photography

My newborn sessions take place in the comfort of your own home so there’s no need to worry about leaving the house in the first few weeks and I bring everything I will need for the session with me.

I photograph a mixture of curled up posed photos along with some natural “organic” photos too.    I don’t go overboard on gimmicky props and my newborn photo sessions are all about capturing your precious baby in all of it’s tiny cuteness.   Photos which you will love and treasure for years to come because of their simplicity.    If you do have specific ideas then please let me know.

Babies grow so quickly and having beautiful photos captured in those first few weeks is really precious and why I love being a newborn photographer.

It’s really important to me that your newborn photos are captured just the way you would like this special time to be remembered … with a sprinkling of my photography magic!

Questions about newborn photography at home

Where do newborn sessions take place?

Newborn sessions take place in the comfort of your home.  There’s no need to worry about taking your baby out in the early days and remembering to pack the kitchen sink in your baby bag(!), I come to you to make it as easy as possible.

I travel throughout Nottingham, Derby, Grantham and areas of Leicestershire.   For areas outside of the East Midlands, travelling costs may apply.  Please let me know your post code at the time of enquiry.

What is the ideal age for newborn portraits?

I recommend newborn sessions takes place within the first 2 weeks of your baby being born, ideally when your baby is between 8-14 days old but, as this may not always be possible for some parents,  I’m still able to capture sleepy newborn poses between 3-5 weeks too.    However, as babies grow so quickly in those first few weeks, it’s a good idea for your photo session to take place sooner rather than later for those lovely curled up poses.

When should I book a newborn session?

Many parents book their session in advance once they have had their second scan,   I book newborn sessions in working on your expected due date so that your baby is between 8-10 days old for their photo session.   Once you are booked in,  I will have more flexibility to reschedule your date should your baby arrive early or late or you need to rearrange the date for any reason.

If you have already had your baby and have only just decided you would like newborn photos, please get in touch as my diary is constantly changing with babies arriving early and late and I always do my best to fit parents in.

How long does a newborn session last?

I will allocate up to 3 hours for the session but you will only be charged the one session fee. On average, newborn portrait session lasts approximately 2.5 hours.

The extra time allocated for newborn sessions is to allow for feeding and settling your baby so that you don’t feel pressured that your photos have to be achieved within a standard portrait session time.

Do newborn sessions include parent and sibling photos?

Yes, I take these with a lifestyle approach so they are very natural of you and your baby at home rather than a formal photo.

Please let me know in advance if you having siblings that you would like to include in the session and their age so that I can plan your session so that it flows as best as possible.

Can we use the hats and props we see on your website?

Of course.  Before your session, we’ll have a chat about the style of photos you would like, colours you would like to incorporate, if you would like to use hats/headband and if you would like to use any props.   If you have something specific in mind that you would like to incorporate in your newborn session, please let me know beforehand so that I can plan your session.

Would you like to book your newborn session?

If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask.
